Chance, a 100-pound Rottweiler-pit bull mix, died Sunday night in a California animal hospital after a swarm of bees stung him more than 700 times.

On May 16, Brittany and Brian Engen’s dog Chance, 2, was playing outside in their Lake Matthews yard when a neighbor, Tommy Baker, attempted to remove a large bee hive that was nestled in his wood fence.

The “agitated” bees first swarmed a properly suited-up Baker, he told Fox 11 in Los Angeles, but he was able to escape on a golf cart as the bees then attacked Chance.

Baker’s wife reportedly got the dog back to safety.

“She was able to run outside and brought the dog into our garage and closed the garage door,” Baker told the outlet. “She had bees in her hair, and there were bees on the dog, so she was able to knock the bees off and kill the ones that were still there.”

But on Saturday, Chance took a turn for the worse, and Brian rushed him to the vet.

The Engens confirmed to The Post on Monday that their pup passed away after receiving a blood transfusion but declined further comment.

“He’s a lovable dog. He’s never been an aggressive dog. He’s always been just a happy-go-lucky guy,” Brian emotionally told Fox 11 on Saturday.

“It’s extremely hard on our family because he’s part of our family.”

Before Chance’s death, Baker set up a GoFundMe page to help with the medical bills.

It has since been shut down due to his passing but raised more than $10,700.
